After spending a couple of day in France constantly telling my cousin to look out for good “bits of wood” to use, I’ve splashed out on a decent touring rack. Nothing worse than overloaded panniers rubbing on the rear tyres. That’s a TorTec Expedition and it’s pretty light, think around 800gs.
Grrrrrrr… I want a Surly! Absolutely completely envious of you right now. It’s sooo shiny.
Awesome! One of the things I love about the Cross Check is that with a bit of equipment I can go from my sleek fixie to your super-functional workhorse and back again. One frame for many jobs. (Also, I have those exact same fenders.)

Hey, I’ve sold more than one person on my FG Surly X-check or at least the idea of it. Yet, yours takes the cake… It is truly a pleasure to see another cross check that is outfitted completely different. My nice rack is currently on my girlfriend’s Bianchi [don’t get Freudian with me] and the Surly is pulling a B.O.B. For a moment I was lusting over your gears and your overall set-up but came to my senses… I’ll stay FG for now.
